About Us

All practices within the school are driven by our vision statement "High standards: High expectations". The values which underpin the actions of the whole school community are; Respect, Responsibility and Cooperation.

Chelsea Heights Primary School is "A Family Centred School", with a high level of parent involvement both in the classroom and administration. School Council and the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) are integral to the running and further development of the school. Our vibrant and energetic staff are focused on delivering a differentiated learning program which supports the learning needs of the individual child. Staff, students and the school community are committed to and proud of our school.

A wide range of exciting learning opportunities are provided for all students and delivered in a supportive atmosphere. Competency in Literacy and Numeracy are a key learning focus and our comprehensive curriculum offers an innovative approach to their delivery within the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and AusVels.

Specialist programs are offered in visual arts, performing arts, physical education and Japanese. Our Welfare Program - led by a dedicated, teaching staff member - provides support for teachers in the development of Individual Learning Plans to support literacy and numeracy intervention and development as well as wellbeing support to students and their families. The development and expansion of the integration of information and communication technologies within the curriculum is being supported through; electronic whiteboards in the majority of classrooms, our growing fleet of iPads and the 1:1 iPad program in Level 6.

The Arts program at Chelsea Heights Primary includes an Art show every second year and a production on alternate years which is conducted in our Green Learning Zone. As a member of the Kingston network we participate in a number of support programs with other schools in the network. Professional development is being addressed through the introduction of walkthroughs and all staff have been trained in restorative practices which has been adopted as a whole school approach to building effective relationships.

Our innovative Student Leadership Program which centres on Community Leadership in Level 4, Personal Leadership in Level 5 and Public Leadership in Level 6 has further broadened our wider community links. It has raised the profile of and respect for our students and their contributions to major community events.
